Drawing at Adobe Max

We recently drew at a couple of events for Adobe and Certiport at the Adobe Max 2016 conference in San Diego. Adobe has been such a big part of my art and career as a digital artist. It was nice to meet some of the people who help make the software and tools I use so much, including Wacom, who was right next door.

As you can see in the video below, live digital caricatures at a trade show booth really help gather a crowd, because many find it fascinating to watch and have done of themselves. The increased foot traffic and engagement at a trade show booth is one of the best reasons to have a digital artist. The return on investment can be many times greater in the end!

Some Recent Events from this Summer

It's been a while since our last news post here. So here's a few pics from some recent events to let you know what we've been up to. This past summer we've been doing digital caricatures at a lot more Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Earlier this year, we re-joined BESA (Bar/Bat Mitzvah Event Services Association) to promote ourselves to San Diego families looking for a more high tech version of caricatures for the receptions. The mitzvahs are always a blast and the kids seem to be entranced with the digital setup. Maybe it's all the glowing lights! :)

The resort is in one of the most beautiful locations you will ever see on the Southern California Coast with views of the Pacific and Catalina Island. We always love coming here to draw.

Here's a first for Court: A western themed Bat Mitzvah. Court made the personalized sketch template to look like an old fashioned "wanted poster."

In San Jose for Realcomm

Court just drew at the Realcomm trade show in San Jose last week for JLL. Here are some fun pics from that. Thanks to DCL for the booking!

This is the second Avenger I've drawn (sort of). A few years ago, I drew actor Chris Hemsworth (Thor) at an event in LA. And here I got to do a pretty decent version of Ironman.

Wet and Dry Parties

We draw at a pretty wide range of event types when we do digital caricatures. Here are some pics from two very different party environments. One was a corporate reception at Sea World here in San Diego, near the dolphin enclosure. And the other event was a western-themed wedding in the Southern California Desert. It was actually at the Imperial Sand Dunes where they filmed the Tatooine scenes in Return of the Jedi!

 

Court got his start in caricatures at Sea World many years ago, so it was nice to visit again.


And at this western wedding at the Imperial San Dunes, they set us up inside one of the wedding party's many RVs. The quarters were a little tight, but we made it work. We kept one display monitor facing out the RV window so the guests knew which RV was the caricature RV.
